PROCESS:
Over the next few days you will be researching an Outlaw. As a group, choose an Outlaw from the pre-approved list below. Remember, you are a bounty hunter on the trail of the Outlaw that you have selected. You will have to collect all of the facts that you can and make a Wanted Poster to hang up for everyone to see. The only way to collect the bounty is to follow the steps below.
STEP 1: Pick an Outlaw from the list below.
Wyatt Earp 1 2 Jesse James 1 2 Butch Cassidy 1 2 Billy the Kid 1 2 3
"Wild Bill" Hickok 1 2 Doc Holliday 1 2 Annie Oakley 1 2 Calamity Jane 1
Belle Star 1 Pancho Villa 1 2
STEP 2: Decide which two students will be the Historians and which two students will be the Photographers.
STEP 3: First, those students with the Historian Role, click here to view the Outlaw worksheet. Once you have opened the document, you will need to print it. Next, look at the list of Outlaws above in Step 1. You will see numbers next to the different Outlaws. Each number is a different Internet site that is dedicated to that Outlaw. Find your Outlaw and click on the numbers next to him/her and find the answers to the questions on the worksheet. You can use the informational books in the classroom for facts also. Last, complete the worksheet. You will use the worksheet for Step 5 when you make your Wanted Poster.
STEP 4: First, those students with the Photographers Role, click on the numbered links beside your Outlaw's name above to find a photo that shows what your Outlaw really looked like during the Wild West time frame. Next, print the picture to use on the Wanted Poster in Step 5. Then, using these same links, find the reward amount that was asked for your Outlaw during this time. Last, record this amount on the worksheet the Historians used in Step 3 above.
STEP 5: The final thing your group will need to do before you will be able to to catch your bounty is to make a Wanted Poster of your Outlaw. The key to a good Wanted Poster is to have as much information about the Outlaw as possible. The best thing to do is to use your Wild West Research Paper as a resource for your Wanted Poster. Go to the back table and pick up one piece of tan construction paper, one box of crayons and a box of markers. You are ready to begin. Historians and Photographers will put the research they found somewhere on the Wanted Poster. Below is an example of a Wanted Poster. Good Luck Bounties!!
